WUD opportunities abound

Jobs and volunteer opportunities abound on campus. Here’s a sampling of recent postings available to students:

CONTEMPORARY ISSUES DIRECTOR: Interested in Contemporary Issues? Consider applying for the WUD contemporary issues director for 2001-02. The Contemporary Issues committee develops, coordinates, and promotes programs about politics, science & society, global topics, social issues and literature & arts. As a WUD Director, you are part of the Wisconsin Union Directorate board; develop, manage and promote events; earn a monthly stipend and potential academic credit; receive valuable experience that looks great on a resume. TERRACE TEAM: Hang out at the Memorial Union Terrace, make new friends, coordinate and market the summer music series … and receive a stipend for doing it. As a Summer Music Co-Coordinator, you would manage and promote over 200 summer events, develop fall events with your committee and incoming Directorate members, and earn a monthly stipend and potential academic credit. The summer music committee is responsible for Open Mic (Wednesdays, 8-11 p.m.), Behind the Beat (Friday afternoons, 5-7 p.m.), Terrace Music (Thursday through Saturday nights, 9:30 p.m.-midnight) and any additional special entertainment programs.

FILM COORDINATOR POSITIONS: The following positions are available to UW–Madison students: Lakeside Cinema: Cult favorites and classics. Starlight Cinema: Underground, independent and experimental cinema. International Cinema: Top notch foreign films from all over the world. Wisconsin Film Festival: Four days of award-winning film. Publicity/Sneaks: Manage and implement promotional strategies for various series as well as sneak previewing upcoming Hollywood releases.

GUTS TUTORS WANTED: The Greater University Tutoring Service seeks dynamic problem-solvers committed to improving campus academic services to apply for the program staff assistant position (13 hours per week) for fall 2001.
