2005 Arts Night Out
It started to dawn on Dave Beck and a group of fellow students when they saw what a perfect national sport miniature golf is for the United States. “It’s the perfect combination of kitsch and sport,” Beck says.
Thus was born “10 Artist-Designed Miniature Golf Holes,” one of the featured attractions at this year’s Arts Night Out! (ANO), Saturday, Oct. 8.
ANO acquaints both members of the campus community and greater Madison with some of what UW–Madison has to offer, artistically speaking.
Students in art and landscape architecture created the “10 Artist-Designed Miniature Golf Holes” from wood, steel, clay, water, “you name it,” says Beck.
Beck says the artists also learned about construction techniques while gaining new insights into miniature golf. Best of all, he says, viewers will be able to try their hand on the course themselves.
“Ten Artist-Designed Miniature Golf Holes” will be up from 2-8 p.m. in the Department of Art on the seventh floor of the Mosse Humanities Building.
