Wisconsin Alumni Association seeks nominations for young alumni awards

There are so many young Badgers who make a difference in our everyday lives, and the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) wants to tell their stories to the world. That’s why WAA is calling for nominations for new awards that will highlight the achievements of UW–Madison graduates under the age of 40.

These awards will honor 20 young alumni who are making an impact in the state of Wisconsin, the nation and beyond by living the Wisconsin Idea — the principle that education should influence and improve people’s lives beyond the classroom.

To be considered for the awards, nominees must be under the age of 40 prior to Jan. 1, 2008. The nominees will be judged for their volunteer or career achievements, the impact they have made in their field or community, current ties to UW–Madison, and demonstrated Badger spirit in terms of energy, initiative, creativity and drive.

“We all know how many young Badgers are out doing great things around the world,” says WAA President and CEO Paula Bonner. “Now we have a way to honor them and inspire others. The best part is, these are people who may not be to the midpoint of their careers. Just think about all that is still in front of them.”

Nominations will be accepted from Friday, June 1-Monday, July 16. Each of the award winners will be featured in a special publication scheduled for release in February.
