The Veteran Services & Military Assistance Center hosted a welcome event at Dejope Residence Hall Sept. 25 for students who are military veterans, currently serving, or family members of veterans. Nearly 900 students are veterans or currently serving and approximately 2,000 students have an immediate family member who is a veteran. The event featured more than 30 local and campus resources.
Students browse more than 30 vendor resource tables and talk to program representatives during the Veteran Services Welcome Event.

The Whaley family talks with a program representative from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. Mirana Whaley is a Navy veteran and first-year student commuting from Janesville to pursue a degree in neurobiology. Whaley's husband is an Army veteran. "I don't meet a whole lot of veterans and students of my age," she said. "I came to meet people."
