Web site offers information on car fleet, garage

October 5, 2004

New state regulations and a campus construction project have forced UW–Madison’s car fleet and fleet garage operations to undergo a series of changes. New instructions are available on the Physical Plant’s Web site.

The site offers information on relocation of the car fleet, garage and the bulk gasoline tank; new state fleet policies; rules for taking fleet vehicles home; parking of personal cars at the garages and reimbursement for personal use of fleet vehicles.

The previous facilities are being demolished to make room for construction that will include a residence hall, an office and parking space northeast of the intersection of Park and Regent streets. The fleet and garage will be relocated twice: once temporarily during construction of a new garage and again to the final location.

The car fleet office has moved to 45 North Charter St., room 137B. The fleet vehicles are based in Lot 51, between Mills and Charter streets just north of Regent Street. A new building for these two operations will be constructed in Lot 51 along the Charter Street side between now and December.
