WARF subsidiary WiSys appoints general manager
Maliyakal John, who has served as intellectual property manager in the life sciences for the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation was named general manager for the WiSys Technology Foundation Inc., the patenting and licensing organization for UW System. He began his new position Oct. 1.
WiSys was founded in 2000 as a nonprofit subsidiary of WARF, which manages intellectual property for UW–Madison. WiSys serves the 25 other UW System campuses by protecting the intellectual property of researchers, licensing the inventions to industry and returning the proceeds to the campuses to support research and educational programs.
