WAA hosts graduating international students

May 3, 2001

The Wisconsin Alumni Association will host a reception for international and exchange students from the School of Business and the School of Engineering Wednesday, May 9, at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St.

Set to begin at 5:30 p.m., this event is an opportunity for these students to begin their farewells to the UW–Madison community. It will feature food, entertainment from the School of Music, and lively discussion among students, faculty and staff. Students are encouraged to wear traditional dress from their home countries and to invite a favorite professor, adviser or mentor.

A short program will feature Sheila Spear, director of International Student Services; Judith Deutsch Kornblatt, associate dean of the Graduate School; and Paula Bonner, president and chief executive officer of WAA. The celebration is sponsored by ISS, UW Foundation, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, School of Business, College of Engineering, College of Letters and Science and the Graduate School.

“We expect to have approximately 100 international students graduating from UW–Madison this year,” says Bonner. “This is our chance to celebrate not only their accomplishments at the university, but the diversity they have brought to our campus.”

Students wishing to attend this reception can RSVP on the Web.
