An honor guard and a roomful of campus leaders, community members and friends welcomed Kristen Roman as the new UW–Madison chief of police Wednesday. Roman took her oath of office during a ceremony followed by a reception at Union South. Roman is a former Madison Police Department captain, and succeeds Sue Riseling as chief. She began her duties with UWPD Jan. 9.
