UW students catch Ronan Farrow’s attention with their “flawless taste”
The journalist Ronan Farrow won a Pulitzer prize and helped spark the #MeToo movement with his reporting on the decades-long sexual predation of movie producer Harvey Weinstein. And he’s followed up with reporting on other powerful men behaving badly.
In admiration of his work, three UW–Madison students – Justin Senzer, Jeremy Swanson and Mitch McMahon — put up a large canvas portrait of Farrow up in their apartment.
To mark the occasion, they posted a photo of the three of them holding the Farrow poster on Instagram.
The post caught the attention of Farrow, who responded with his own post thanking them.
“Look what these cool UW Madison students with flawless taste put up in their college pad. (Thanks for the weird decorating honor, @jbsenz / @mitchm659 / @jerswan28.),” he wrote.

Senzer said they were inspired by admiration for Ronan’s book, War on Peace, and his impactful journalism, including breaking the Weinstein story.
“His work is helping to break the longstanding precedent of inappropriate and unacceptable behavior by people in powerful positions,” Senzer said.
“We have a lot of respect for Ronan and the body of work he has accumulated at such a young age,” McMahon said. “Someone we all look up to, and try to emulate personally and professionally.”
“He’s one of the most influential journalists of our era,” Swanson said. “He’s a role model and we appreciate his love for UW–Madison.”
