UW reps to attend WRC conference
The university is sending four people to the founding conference of the Worker Rights Consortium scheduled Friday, April 7, in New York City.
Vice Chancellor for Legal and Executive Affairs Melany S. Newby will represent Chancellor David Ward; Tom Sharkey, professor of botany, will represent the University Committee; Wilt Sanders, a senior scientist in the Deparment of Physics, will represent the Academic Staff Executive Committee; and Molly McGrath will represent Associated Students of Madison.
UW–Madison joined the WRC on a conditional basis last month, saying it is committed to helping develop the fledgling organization into a viable entity as the university continues its efforts to end sweatshop labor.
