UW Opera begins season on spooky ‘note’
It was disturbingly unclear in Henry James’ “The Turn of the Screw” whether the spirits of two deceased servants actually possessed the children or whether their governess imagined it.
Composer Benjamin Britten conveys that delicious ambiguity in his operatic hall of mirror by the same name. The University Opera will open its 2004-05 season with “The Turn of the Screw” on Friday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. Other performances are Sunday, Oct. 17, at 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Music Hall.
Tickets, $18 general/$10 UW–Madison students, are available through the Vilas Hall box office, 262-1500.
