UW-Madison alerts student voters to important info for Aug. 9 election
UW-Madison students who plan to vote in Madison during the Aug. 9 primary election should prepare now to make sure things go smoothly at the polls.
If you are a U.S. citizen, will be 18 years of age on or before Election Day and have resided in Wisconsin for at least 28 consecutive days before Election Day – AND you’re registered! – you are eligible to vote in Wisconsin. Out-of-state students can vote by registering like any other Wisconsin resident.
1. If you’ve moved since you last registered to vote
Voters who have moved more than 28 days before the election must re-register at their new address. For details on how to register visit vote.wisc.edu.
If you moved less than 28 days before the election, you may vote at your previous polling place.

2. Check your polling place
Some campus polling place locations change during the summer.
If you live in Bradley, Cole, Dejope, Humphrey, Jorns, Kronshage, Leopold, Phillips or Sullivan:
Your summer polling place is the Red Gym.
If you live in Ogg or Newell Smith:
Your summer polling place is the Doyle Administration Building, 545 W. Dayton St.
If you live in Sellery or Witte:
Your summer polling place is Memorial Library

3. Bring the correct form of ID to the polls
Your official Wiscard student ID is NOT valid as a voter ID.
Valid IDs for voting purposes include Wisconsin Driver’s License, U.S. passport, or a free UW voter ID with enrollment verification.
If you need a UW voter ID card, go to the Wiscard Office in Union South.
The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Wiscard team will be assisting incoming students at SOAR so wait times may be longer than normal – please plan accordingly.
If you’re using the voter ID card, you will also need to show proof of enrollment at the polls. Visit go.wisc.edu/verify.
