UW Homecoming parade, pep rally support ‘Bucky for President’

October 19, 2004

Bucky is running for president during Homecoming 2004, and the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) and the UW Homecoming Committee are sponsoring a parade in his honor. Badgers of all ages are invited to show their support at community events during Homecoming week on campus.

On Friday, Oct. 22, State Street will be overflowing with Bucky’s campaign supporters — UW alumni, students and friends — watching the “Bucky for President” Homecoming parade from 6-7 p.m. Spirited floats will ride through campus, and Bucky will make an appearance.

Following the parade, Badger fans are invited to cheer for Bucky at the Homecoming pep rally on Library Mall from 7-8 p.m. The event will feature appearances by the candidate himself, sports captains and coaches, and Homecoming student ambassadors. At 8 p.m., the crowd will head to the Memorial Union for the Homecoming fireworks display over Lake Mendota.

Starting at 3 p.m., the city of Madison will close sections of Langdon Street, Wisconsin Avenue and Gilman Street to accommodate the parade. For a complete schedule of Homecoming 2004 activities or to purchase “Bucky for President” campaign apparel, visit the Homecoming 2004 Web site.
