Campus is making preparations for the first major snowstorm of the season. The campus is open for business Wednesday, with all finals to be held as scheduled. More information about Thursday’s status will be provided after 4 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, snow and high winds are expected beginning Wednesday, Dec. 19, and are forecast to continue through the day on Thursday, Dec. 20.

Students, faculty, staff and visitors are encouraged to use caution coming to or from campus.

If the weather becomes so severe that finals must be canceled, that information will be announced on TV, radio, via social media and the university home page. Students who have a final exam canceled due to weather conditions will also receive information from their instructor.

If you have information about campus event cancellations, email chancellor@news.wisc.edu with specific details of the changes so they can be posted to the campus web site.

Ahead of the storm, faculty and staff should review the inclement weather guidelines for employees. Read the guidelines here.

The presence of essential university staff, including public safety, power plant and other designated staff will be necessary. Please check with your supervisor if you have questions.

More information about winter parking rules is available from Transportation Services.
