University searches for secretary of academic staff
UW-Madison has started its search for a new secretary of the academic staff.
The many responsibilities of the position include supporting shared governance and fostering connections between the Academic Staff Assembly and other campus governance groups. The secretary also promotes the contributions of academic staff, acts as a resource to academic staff and is a liaison among the Academic Staff Executive Committee, the Academic Staff Assembly and the administration. In addition, the position serves as secretary of the Academic Staff Executive Committee, the Academic Staff Assembly and standing committees; provides staff support for search-and-screen committees for high-level administrative positions; and coordinates the Roundtable luncheon lecture series.
Current secretary of the academic staff Colleen McCabe will retire from the position in June after nine years in her role.
Carla Love, a distinguished lecturer in the Department of German, chairs the 10-member committee.
Committee members include Susan Crowley, University Health Services; Lisa Jansen, College of Letters and Science; Rachel Kulow, School of Medicine and Public Health; José Madera, Academic Advancement Program; John Mather, the Department of Horticulture; Mo Noonan Bischof, assistant vice provost; Brian Rust, Division of Information Technology; Christopher Thorn, Wisconsin Center for Education Research; and Tom Wright, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
