University Roundtable announces spring lineup

January 9, 2004 By Dennis Chaptman

Lessons that the justice system can learn from the exoneration of convicts will be the topic as the University Roundtable’s spring luncheon series kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at UW–Madison.

The program – which begins at 11:45 a.m. in Tripp Commons at the Memorial Union – will feature John Pray and Keith Findley, co-directors of the Wisconsin Innocence Project, discussing their work and its effect on criminal justice. The project operates in the Frank J. Remington Center of the UW–Madison Law School.

University Roundtable involves university and community leaders speaking during the lunch hour on timely issues of interest to the campus community.
The other spring-semester programs, which also will be held at 11:45 a.m. in Tripp Commons, will feature:

* Richard J. Davidson, UW–Madison professor of psychology, who will speak Wednesday, March 10, on “Transforming the Mind: Brain-Body Interaction and Well-Being.”

* UW System President Katharine Lyall, who will speak on Wednesday, April 14, regarding the state of the UW System.

The programs are open to members of the university community and their guests.

Each luncheon costs $9. The three-luncheon series price is $25, if paid by Feb. 3. Individual reservations are due one week before each program, and cancellations must be made four days in advance. Those attending may pay for the luncheons at the door, if a reservation is made by e-mail or telephone before the deadline.

Reservations may be made through Colleen McCabe, (608) 263-2985, or cmccabe@bascom.wisc.edu.
