Teaching Academy Inducts Eighteen New Members
The University of Wisconsin–Madison Teaching Academy inducted 18 new members in an April 15 ceremony at the Wisconsin Center. The newest fellows, representing the fourth class of the Teaching Academy, include:

- Marion Brown, agricultural journalism
- Gerald Campbell, agricultural & applied economics
- Sandra Shaw Courter, engineering professional development
- Donald Cox, physics and astronomy
- Milton Friend, animal health & biomedical sciences
- Richard Green, real estate and urban land economics
- Cheryl Hanley-Maxwell, rehabilitation psychology and special education
- Cynthia Haq, family medicine
- Jan Heide, business
- Joan Lazarus, continuing education in the arts
- Stephen Lucas, communication arts
- Benjamin Rifkin, Slavic languages
- Sheena Rogers, psychology
- Edna Mora Szymanski, rehabilitation psychology and special education
- Kenneth Todar, bacteriology
- Lillian Tong, Center for Biology Education
- Jane Tylus, comparative literature.
The Teaching Academy, chartered by the Faculty Senate in 1993, has 102 members. It was founded to study critical issues facing college teaching and learning, including strenghthening undergraduate, graduate and outreach teaching as well as providing higher visibility and recognition for effective teaching and learning.
