Talent of choral groups, bands showcased

UW–Madison choral groups and bands will have their day in two special performances. “Choral Collage,” Saturday, Feb. 26, will feature five of the School of Music’s seven choirs. On the program will be excerpts of Bach’s “St. John’s Passion,” Waldemar Ahlen’s “Sommarpsalm,” Knut Nystedt’s “Cry Out and Shout,” Cary John Franklin’s “Sweet Harmony,” William Billings’ “David’s Lamentation,” plus spirituals and music by English composers Henry Purcell, John Farmer and C. Hubert H. Parry.

University bands will perform on Sunday, March 6. Pieces include Frederick Fennell’s “Tally-Ho,” Henry Fillmore’s “Klaxon,” Vaclav Nelhybel’s “Introit,” Robert W. Smith’s “Into the Storm” and Michael Story’s “Hudson River Sketches.”
