Legal Affairs search seeks new vice chancellor
The vice chancellor for legal affairs is the chief legal officer of the university. Reporting to the chancellor, the vice chancellor serves as senior counselor to the chancellor and other senior university officials, and is a member of the chancellor's executive leadership team.
Employees encouraged to take time off for well-being
Many employees have been deferring time off because they could not travel, spend time with family and friends, or get away from managing pandemic-related issues. But time off from work at regular intervals is important.
Payroll schedule and benefits deductions changes coming in 2021
Beginning in April, employees who are currently paid biweekly will have most deductions for benefits split evenly over the first two biweekly paychecks each month. Beginning in July, employees who are paid monthly will be moved to a biweekly pay schedule.

Pay plan increases and other wage changes to take effect in January
In January, UW–Madison will provide a 2 percent wage increase to employees under the 2019–2021 pay plan.
Second round of employee furloughs to begin in January

With the winter months upon us, UW–Madison’s Office of Human Resources reminds employees working on campus of inclement weather guidelines. During the pandemic, these guidelines apply to those who are working on-site, not to those working remotely.
October survey seeks employee input in spring plans
The survey asks how the university can support faculty and staff, whether they are already working on-site or will be at some future time. The survey also requests input on improvements in the campus response to COVID-19.

A pair of Smart Restart updates, one focused on graduate students and the second for the full campus community, are set for Aug. 19 and Aug. 21. Panelists will include Chancellor Rebecca Blank and a group of vice chancellors and other officials.
