Sykes will discuss ‘Conservatism in the Age of Trump’

Author and former radio talk show host Charlie Sykes will visit the University of Wisconsin­–Madison as part of the Wisconsin Writer in Residence program.

Sykes’ top-rated talk show aired for 23 years on WTMJ-AM radio in Milwaukee. He is editor of the news website Right Wisconsin and a regular contributor on MSNBC. Sykes has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Politico and other national publications.

Sykes’ ninth book, “How the Right Lost Its Mind,” will be published Oct. 3 by St. Martin’s Press. He will discuss the book and much more during a forum titled “Conservatism in the Age of Trump” on Monday, Sept. 18, at UW–Madison’s Discovery Building, 330 N. Orchard St. The hour-long presentation begins at 4:30 p.m. in the DeLuca Forum, with a reception afterward.

The Wisconsin Writer in Residence program is sponsored by University Communications, a division of University Relations, with funding from the University of Wisconsin Foundation. Past Wisconsin Writers in Residence are Joel Christopher, then-vice president of news for Gannett Wisconsin Media, and Toya Washington, a news anchor at WISN-TV in Milwaukee.

The program brings state journalists to campus to meet with faculty, staff and students in classroom and informal settings and to see firsthand some of the programs, personalities and facilities at the state’s flagship university.
