Sweet receives NCURA new professional award
Mark Sweet, an information processing consultant for the Graduate School, has been honored for outstanding professionalism by the National Council of University Research Administrators.
Sweet received one of the council’s Kevin Reed Outstanding New Professional Awards, which are given “to a very select group of individuals who have shown a quick willingness to offer their abilities, time, commitment and enthusiasm to NCURA.” Sweet was recognized at the council’s Region IV annual meeting held in April in Minneapolis.
Sweet, who has worked for the Graduate School since 1997, has made presentations regionally and nationally on issues related to electronic research administration. His expertise focuses on electronic interactions between universities and granting agencies. He serves on National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation teams to design such systems.
Previously, Sweet was a research specialist at the UW–Madison School of Medicine, 1989-97. His Web-based innovations help people access research proposals and awards online without prior training, and make it easier for researchers to apply for grants online.
NCURA is devoted to advancing research administration through professional development, the sharing of knowledge and by fostering a sense of community.
