Students nominated for chancellor search

The Associated Students of Madison has nominated two current students to serve on the search and screen committee that will help identify the next chancellor of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

They have been appointed to the committee by UW System President Kevin P. Reilly. The students are:

• Suchita Shah, a senior from Holmen, Wis. majoring in biology with the neurobiology option.
• Erik Paulson, a third year Ph.D student in computer science from Chippewa Falls, Wis. Paulson also earned an undergraduate bachelor of science in computer sciences, also from UW–Madison.

Shah and Paulson join a larger committee made up of a total of 23 students, faculty, staff, administrators, community members and alumni who will be asked to identify five unranked finalists. They were nominated by the Shared Governance Committee after submitting a letter of application.

Separately, Regent Colleene Thomas, also a UW–Madison student, will be the first student regent to serve on the special Board of Regents chancellor selection committee. The committee will review the expected five finalists and assist UW System President Kevin Reilly in the decision-making process.

The search committee’s first meeting is from 2-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 in 260 Bascom Hall.
