Student to student: Top campus resources to help you
Struggling with homework? Have a flat bike tire? Need a job?
Badgers have access to plenty of resources to help them with any obstacle they may face. Some of them are overlooked, though – so here’s a look at some of the most helpful resources on campus.
- University Bicycle Resource Center: The University Bicycle Resource center is located in Helen C. White, at the end of North Park St. in the northeast level of the ground level parking. This is an excellent and accessible resource to students with bicycle issues as they can use free tools, air pumps, lube and other bike supplies. Also, for students looking to get involved, the Bicycle Resource Center offers monthly bicycle events, such as classes and clinics.
- The University Writing Center: The University Writing Center offers students help with anything from their senior thesis to a brief book summary. Like the University Bicycle Resource Center, the writing center is located in Helen C. White, and their goal is simply to “help undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines become more effective, more confident writers.”
- Successworks : All sorts of career advising resources are offered to Letters & Science students. Located above the University Bookstore, Successworks offers drop-in and scheduled appointments where students can discuss their resume, cover letters, and even take part in mock-interviews.
- GUTS : The Greater University Tutoring Service offers tutoring services in almost all departments. Not only is GUTS a great resource for students seeking a boost in class, but it is also a great spot for Badger’s who feel especially confident in their knowledge to turn to find a job as a tutor.
- SAFEwalk: The city of Madison is a great place to explore, and SAFEwalk makes it safe to explore during night-time hours. In order to ensure safe transportation for all students, the University offers SAFEwalks, a service where students can be accompanied during their walks around campus during the late hours of the night. To request a free walk, all students needs to do is text or call 608-262-5000.
