Statement from Provost Spear on missing student Audrey Seiler

March 29, 2004

“We are concerned and saddened by the disappearance of Audrey Seiler and our hearts go out to her family and friends.

“Chancellor Wiley and I want to assure you that the university is doing everything it can to assist the Seiler family and to aid the investigation of campus and city of Madison police. We are also calling on the university community to come together to provide police with any information that might be helpful in their investigation.

“Last evening we issued an email to all students, faculty and staff seeking information and we’ve also developed a Web site that contains a photo of Audrey and other information that can be used to help locate her. The address is www.findaudrey.wisc.edu. The site will be updated as new information becomes available. If anyone has any information to share, please call the Madison Area Crimestoppers at (608) 266-6014.

“We’ve offered support to members of Audrey’s family in their time of need. Students, faculty and staff who know Audrey and would like assistance in coping with this situation can contact University Health Services at (608) 265-5600 or after hours at (608) 265-6565.

“In the meantime, we hope Audrey returns quickly and safely.”
