Sign up for ‘Wisconsin Reflections’ tapings
If you find politics and Madison history fascinating, the Olympics and coaching memorable, and the Grammy’s and entertainment business interesting, join the audience of "Wisconsin Reflections" on Tuesday, April 15.
"Wisconsin Reflections" is a television show produced by University Communications for the Big Ten Network, and features alumni and friends of the university. Filmed on campus at the Wisconsin Public Television studios, each show incorporates a studio audience and members are an integral part of the show, asking questions of the guest and getting a chance to talk with the guest after the show.
The final three shows of the semester will taped on April 15. Joining Host John Roach in the studio will be:
- 11 a.m.: Mark Johnson, coach of the Badger women’s hockey team. Johnson’s teams have earned two national championships and a runner-up performance. His personal history includes 11 standout seasons in the NHL and two collegiate All-America selections while at UW–Madison. He was a player on the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" team and assisted on the winning goal against Finland in the gold medal game. He earned his degree from the university in kinesiology.
- 1 p.m.: Paul Soglin, a 1966 history graduate and former two-term and youngest mayor of Madison. He was active in the campus Vietnam War protests and has been a prominent figure in Madison politics for almost 35 years. His thought-provoking blog, "Waxing America," allows readers to get his views on political issues both local and national in scope.
- 2:30 p.m.: Allie Willis. A Grammy-winning songwriter, Willis is a 1969 journalism and mass communication graduate. Her songs, including Earth, Wind & Fire’s "September" and "Boogie Wonderland"; the Pointer Sisters’ "Neutron Dance"; the Pet Shop Boys’ "What Have I Done To Deserve This"; and the theme for "Friends" have sold more than 50 million records. She also co-wrote the Oprah Winfrey-produced musical "The Color Purple." In addition, she’s an artist and cyber-pioneer.
Tapings will take place at the Wisconsin Public Television Studios at 2000 Vilas Hall. Audience members should expect their time commitment to be just under 90 minutes.
