Restoration of intersection beginning
Work will begin tomorrow (Thursday, Oct. 14) to restore the intersection of Linden Drive and Charter Street to concrete. The west half of the intersection will be closed for two weeks. All eastbound traffic on Linden that needs to go beyond lots 21 or 23 will have to turn around and detour back to Observatory Drive. There will be no westbound traffic on Linden from Charter to Lots 21 and 23. Observatory Drive or University Avenue should be used as alternate routes.
On or about Monday, Nov. 1, construction will begin on the east half of the intersection.
Campus buses will be re-routed to Observatory Drive between Babcock Drive and Charter Street for two weeks. Stops will be located at the corner of Babcock and Observatory drives and at Charter Street and Observatory Drive. No bus stops on Babcock and Linden drives will be served during the detour period. City bus routes affected include 1, 9, 28, 38, and 53. Maps of the detour will be available on the buses.
Campus bus riders should also note that an additional bus will be put into service on Route 80 starting Monday, Nov. 1, to help alleviate the overcrowding problem during the winter months. That means the buses will be running at approximately seven-minute intervals rather than eight minutes apart. This will be the second winter season that a bus has been added to the daytime route.
