Regents appoint Reilly as next UW System president
Kevin P. Reilly, chancellor and former provost of UW-Extension, has been appointed by the Board of Regents as the sixth president of the UW System.
He will begin the position in early September.
“Kevin Reilly is a strong and capable leader who will move this university forward through promising yet challenging times,” says Regent President Toby E. Marcovich.
Reilly served four years as UW-Extension chancellor and four years as vice chancellor and provost. He previously was associate provost for academic programs and secretary of the university at the State University of New York System. Reilly earned his B.A. at the University of Notre Dame, and his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.
Reilly’s responsibilities as UW-Extension chancellor have included leadership of programs in continuing education, cooperative extension, distance education and small business development, as well as the statewide Wisconsin Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Television networks. He succeeds Katharine C. Lyall, who retired after serving for nearly 13 years.
