Canned construction
Members of the Alpha Chi Omega and Sigma Phi Epsilon use more than 500 canned food items to build a sculpture called “Sand Can-stle” on Library Mall. As part of Greek Week 2005, more than 10 UW–Madison fraternity and sorority chapters competed in the sculpture contest with the theme “Turn Back Time.” Following the competition, all canned food items will be donated to the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin. Photo of hawk in a nest

A protective hawk, likely a mother watching over her nest of eggs, sits perched high in a tree outside the Education Building. For the past three weeks, staff members in the School of Education External Relations office on the building’s fourth floor have had a great view of two hawks in their new springtime residence.
