Photo of graffiti in Mosse Humanities Building elevator

Stuck without a sketchpad
Graffiti, artwork and doodles cover the interior of an elevator in the Mosse Humanities Building. The elevator travels between the ground floor level and the upper floors of the building, where many aspiring artists and the Department of Art studios are found. (Photo: Jeff Miller)

Chalk talk
On Election Day, Ben Schumaker, a graduate student in social work, chalks the sidewalks outside Van Hise Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 2, with get-out-the-vote messages, as a volunteer for the nonpartisan organization America Coming Together. UW–Madison also has strongly supported getting out to vote. University Communications developed a Web site with information on how to register to vote and polling locations. Every student was sent an e-mail with the Web site and a get-out-the-vote message. Rock the Vote also visited campus in October to encourage young voters to get involved.
