A Wisconsin & Southern Railroad train idles on the rails next to Engineering Mall. The railway operated the inaugural runs of the “Badger Express” passenger train between Middleton and Camp Randall during the university’s open house Aug. 19. The train, which will carry Badger fans from Middleton and back on football Saturdays this fall, used double-decker coaches formerly owned by Chicago’s Metra commuter railway to carry open house passengers on a 30-minute round trip.
