Pulitzer winner named science writer in residence
Robert Lee Hotz, a Pulitzer Prize-winning science writer for the Los Angeles Times, has been named a 1998 UW–Madison science writer in residence.
Hotz has been covering science full time for 16 years. For the past five years, Hotz, 48, has covered science, medicine, technology and research issues for the Los Angeles Times. He will spend a week on the UW–Madison campus beginning Oct. 5. He will deliver a free public lecture, “The Media and the Rock of Doom: Covering the End of the World,” Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. in the Memorial Union (Check Today in the Union for a room number).
The Science Writer in Residence Program, established in 1986, continues with the support of the UW. The UW–Madison Office of News and Public Affairs and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication sponsor the program.
