Police seek suspect in assault near campus

Madison Police are searching for a suspect in a sexual assault that occurred in the 100 Block of N. Randall Ave. Wednesday morning at around 6 a.m.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a blue pullover sweatshirt with a zipper and jeans. He is estimated to be in his early to mid 20s and five feet six inches tall with a “chunky build.” He has no facial hair.

Police say the victim did not know the alleged assailant, adding that the victim had been preparing to leave for work and first noticed the suspect in the hallway of her apartment building. They say the suspect attacked her in the basement.

Anyone with information regarding this case should contact the Madison Police Department. Police are particularly interested in information from anyone that may have seen someone fitting the suspect description in the area during the early morning hours.
