Photo exhibit examines issue of gender using portraiture
Whose picture has been taken? Who took it? Why? And what, if anything, does it mean? How time has changed the answers to those questions is at the root of a new exhibition at Knapp House.
Nicholas Grider, a graduate student at UW-Milwaukee, photographed his friends and acquaintances in a formal setting, but in the intimate style of contemporary photographers Nan Goldin and Wolfgang Tilmans.
The photos will be on view until Friday, Feb. 25. The artist will discuss his work at a reception at Knapp House at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28. Visitors can view the exhibition from noon-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, or make an appointment at knapphouseart@yahoo.com.
