Partners in Giving 2019 campaign will ‘Give Hope’ to 520 charities
The annual Partners in Giving workplace fundraising campaign got underway this month with the theme, “Give Hope,” emphasizing the opportunity we each have to offer hope to others.
The annual eight-week campaign runs Oct. 7-Nov. 29, when state and UW employees in Dane County can donate to the charity or charities of their choice by cash, check, credit card or payroll deduction. They can also give online at www.giving.wi.gov. Contributions are welcome through May 15, 2020.
“Donations from Partners in Giving provide critical year-round funding that allows our member nonprofits to play a vital role in the community every day,” said Darren Blankenship, director of one of the campaign’s participating umbrella charity groups.
Last year, 6,400 state, UW and UW Health workers donated more than $2.4 million to local, state, national and international charities. This year, employees again can choose from 520 screened charities, including 11 umbrella charity groups.
The choices include a wide range of charitable causes, including everything from diabetes research to protecting endangered species.
“We find value in this demonstration of the collective charitable spirit at UW–Madison, and believe it is a special part of our campus community experience,” reads the campaign kick-off letter from John Karl Scholz, Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Laurent Heller, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration.
Employees will learn more from campaign chairs and committees in their units. They will distribute materials, organize and communicate the campaign activities planned for each workplace, and share the impact of Partners in Giving.
