Park-and-ride option available for WIAA boys’ tourney
Fans planning to attend the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association’s State Boys’ Basketball Tournament at the Kohl Center this week will be able to “park and ride” from the Dane County Coliseum to the games and back.
University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Transportation Services, in cooperation with Madison Metro, will be operating a shuttle service on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 19-21.
“We want to encourage people to use the shuttle instead of parking downtown during the day,” said Patti Lux-Weber, UW–Madison special events parking coordinator.
The Park-and-Ride shuttle will run from the Dane County Expo Center grounds, where parking will be available in front of the Coliseum. It can be accessed from the John Nolen Drive or Rimrock Road entrances to the Expo grounds. Parking will cost $3.75 for each vehicle and the ’round-trip shuttle ride will be just $1 per person.
The shuttle, running every 30 minutes, will begin at 6:30 a.m. and end at 11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Due to later game starting times on Saturday, the shuttle will begin operation that day at 9 a.m. and continue until 11 p.m.
Those attending the boys’ tournament are advised that there will be no park-and-ride shuttle service from the university’s Lot 60 this week. The Coliseum shuttle will be the only one that the university and Madison Metro will be operating.
