Photo gallery Outstanding Women of Color honored
Five women were honored with UW–Madison’s Outstanding Women of Color award in a ceremony at the Pyle Center on March 5. It’s the 11th year for the celebration of women chosen for their advocacy on behalf of disadvantaged populations; scholarly research on race, ethnicity and indigeneity; and community building.
This year’s honorees were Assistant Professor Bianca J. Baldridge, Educational Policy Studies; graduate student Mariela Quesada Centeno; Associate Professor Jennifer Young Choe Edgoose, Family Medicine & Community Health; Melissa Metoxen, Academic Support Coordinator for the Native American Center for Health Professions; and English Professor Cherene Sherrard-Johnson.
“This annual reception is a wonderful opportunity to call out just a few of the many women who work tirelessly and selflessly without ever asking for praise or recognition,” said Patrick J. Sims, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion.
