Open house planned for August
Building on the success of a similar event during last year’s university sesquicentennial, UW–Madison’s Open House Weekend will be held Aug. 18-20.
“We are designing a wide variety of interactive, educational and entertaining activities for people of all ages, which we hope will increase the public’s support and awareness of the important and interesting research, instruction and public service that goes on here at UW–Madison,” says Noel Radomski, director of the Visitor Services program.
A concert featuring vocalist Kitt Reuter-Foss, screenings of the critically acclaimed “Americanos: Latino Life in the United States” and musical entertainment on the Union Terrace will be featured. Activities include several geared specifically for children. Throughout the weekend, campus specialty tours will be offered. In addition, the Arts Institute and the Center for Photography will host an exhibit at the Memorial Union showcasing public art, architecture and landscape design at UW–Madison, and the Wisconsin Regional Art Program will host a statewide art exhibit at the Pyle Center.
Many specific Open House plans have not been finalized. More complete information will be available on the Web at http://www.wisc.edu starting in early June.
If you would like to sponsor an Open House event, but haven’t signed up yet, please contact Noel Radomski, 263-0238, by Monday, May 22.
