Observatory Drive traffic to be limited
Observatory Drive will be limited to one-way westbound traffic for parts of the day April 14 and 15 to accommodate the annual Wisconsin High School Forensic Association State Speech Festival.
Thousands of students from hundreds of Wisconsin high schools are expected to attend the festival, along with several hundred judges. The competition will be held in more than a dozen buildings on or near Bascom Hill.
Because of the large number of school buses that will be in that area to drop off students, Observatory Drive traffic will be limited to one-way westbound from Park Street to Charter Street between 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Motorists are asked to drive with caution due to the increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
During the affected time periods, permit holders or others using Bascom Hill parking lots 9, 10 and 11 will only be able to access those lots by entering Observatory Drive from Park Street. When leaving the lots, vehicles will have to turn left toward Charter Street.
