New Web site launched for prospective students

August 23, 2005

Prospective students now have easier access to the information they need about UW–Madison and its admission process, thanks to a new Web site launched this month.

The site, which features an entirely new visual design, as well as all-new content and information architecture, was a joint effort of the Office of Admissions and University Communications. The redesign represents the first major upgrade in five years.

Visitors to the site (http://www.admissions.wisc.edu) will find easy access to what research shows are the top activities students want to complete at an admissions Web site — request information, schedule a visit, apply online and check application status.

Site navigation has been greatly improved, with audience-specific pathways for freshmen, transfer, international and re-entry students, as well as high school counselors. Other upgrades include a Google-powered search function, home page news and events (fueled by RSS feeds), rotating seasonal photography and an application/forms library.
