New stores building to hold May 20 open house
UW–Madison’s center for new and recycled office and laboratory supplies will hold an open house on Thursday, May 20, to showcase its new facility.
Materials Distribution Services (MDS), now located at 2102 Wright St., will host the special event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will include online ordering demonstrations, building tours, free samples and catalogs, and visits from vendor representatives.
MDS is an ordering and distribution service for all of UW–Madison’s office and laboratory supply needs. It also is home to the popular Swap Shop, which resells useful products that have been discarded by departments.
Purchasing Director Tom Sailor said the open house will help raise awareness of the new location. The center moved to the east Madison location – near the intersection of East Washington Avenue and Highway 51 – to reduce traffic congestion on campus.
UW–Madison has a 10-year lease with the private property owner. The owner constructed a 53,000 square-foot warehouse-style building for the university’s use.
A free shuttle to MDS will be available all day; call (608) 245-2900 for stop information. For information about MDS, contact Sailor at (608) 262-8721.
