Now that the Majestic Theatre in downtown Madison appears to be closing its doors, film buffs will be looking for other venues showing recently released independent and foreign films usually unavailable at the local multiplex.
One such option is Memorial Union Movies, which was created in 1940 to bring recent releases to the Wisconsin Union community.
Each semester, the Wisconsin Union Directorate Film Committee works to bring to campus up to 10 recent, diverse and provocative films straight from the arthouse.
Shown at the Frederic March Play Circle on the second floor of Memorial Union on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, MU Movies offers a comfortable atmosphere at reasonable prices in the heart of campus. Students, faculty, staff and Wisconsin Union members and guests pay $3.50; non-members pay $4. Union membership is open to all.
