McCoy book chosen as first in ‘Beyond our Borders’ series
Alfred McCoy’s “A Question of Torture: CIA Interrogation, From the Cold War to the War on Terror” will lead the next “World Beyond our Borders” series, sponsored by the International Institute and Borders book store. McCoy will discuss the book on Wednesday, Feb. 1; all of the events in the series will be held at 7 p.m. at Borders West, 3750 University Ave.
Other books in the series include:
- Tuesday, March 21: “Empire of Nations: Ethnographic Knowledge and the Making of the Soviet Union,” by Francine Hirsch from the Department of History.
- Tuesday, April 11: “Theatres of Independence: Drama, Theory and Urban Performance in India Since 1947,” by Aparna Dharwadker of the departments of Theatre and Drama and English.
- Tuesday, May 2: “Courage Tastes of Blood: The Mapuche Community of Nicolás Ailío and the Chilean State, 1906-2001” by Florencia Mallon of the Department of History.
