Madison kids ‘trick or treat’ with campus Greeks
“Trick-or-Treat with the Greeks,” an opportunity for disadvantaged children to experience a fun and safe Halloween on campus, will be hosted by university fraternites and sororities Friday, October 27, from 3-6 p.m.
The event is organized by the Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and Panhellenic Association.
“Trick-or-Treat with the Greeks” features activities such as face painting, mini-pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, “mummy wrapping” games, storytelling and a haunted house.
Fraternity and sorority members create a fun-filled atmosphere for the children, while supervising each activity. More than 250 Madison-area children annually attend “Trick-or-Treat with the Greeks,” and organizers hope to have greater participation this year.
The Greeks are raising money to provide bus rides between the event and Madison community centers. There will be two drop-off points for children: Half of the kids will start their activities at the Gamma Phi Beta sorority on the corner of Langdon and Frances streets, while the other half will start at the Alpha Phi sorority on the corner of Langdon and Carroll streets.
In addition to the numerous Greek members assisting with the event, two festive Madison-area symbols, “Bratman” and Bucky Badger, will attend “Trick or Treat with the Greeks.”
