Loos Chuck Wagon to make Oct. 1 stop at UW Stock Pavilion
To chronicle the journey of America’s food, self-styled modern-day cowboy Trent Loos, host of the nationally aired radio program “Loos Tales,” tours the country in an authentic chuck wagon.
On Oct. 1, Loos and crew will hitch their wagon on campus.
Setting up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the northwest lawn of the historic UW Stock Pavilion, The Loos Tales FoodLink Chuck Wagon will offer a taste of history, along with some perspectives on modern agriculture. While Loos’ team of Percheron draft horses munch hay in the Old Dairy Barn, Loos and his crew will talk with visitors about the role of technology in growing and protecting the foods we most depend on.
“The journey is specifically routed to symbolize the value of university-industry-producer collaboration in the production of today’s safe, affordable and high-quality food supply,” says Sarah Muirhead, editor of the agribusiness publication Feedstuffs, which is a partner with Loos in the Loos Tales FoodLink Chuck Wagon initiative.
Loos’ stop in Madison also includes a visit to the World Dairy Expo, where he will conduct more interviews for the project. His radio programs can be heard on more than 100 stations across the country and have an estimated national audience of 4 million people.
