Local kids to ‘trick or treat’ with campus Greeks

October 25, 2004 By John Lucas

UW–Madison fraternities and sororities will host “Trick or Treat with the Greeks,” a unique opportunity for area children to experience a fun and safe Halloween on campus, from 3:30-6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27.

The free event is expected to bring to campus more than 300 costumed children from organizations such as Neighborhood House, the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County and other non-profit after-school children’s programs.

While visiting fraternity and sorority chapters on Langdon Street, children will participate in events such as a haunted house, cookie decorating and pumpkin painting.

The event is organized by the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association. An estimated 500 fraternity and sorority volunteers will walk the costumed children between houses and supervise each activity.

All proceeds from Halloween Greek Community fundraising will be donated to participating children’s organizations.
