Lilith computer fair planned Friday
Madison middle school students, most of whom are girls attending after-school computer clubs, will participate in the third annual Lilith Computer Fair on Friday, March 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at various locations on campus.
Students attending the fair will be from Jefferson, O’Keeffe, Sennett and Wright Middle Schools in Madison. They will meet women using computer technology in a wide range of professions, will have opportunities for hands-on experience with computers, and will visit UW–Madison facilities where computers are used across several academic disciplines.
The Lilith Computer Fair is the brainchild of a now graduated Memorial High School student, Susannah Camic, who lamented the fact that there were too few opportunities where girls are encouraged to learn about and work with computers.
The fair is sponsored by the College of Engineering, the Computer Aided Engineering Center, Madison Metropolitan School District and others.
