Letters and Science grads to be honored at reception
The College of Letters and Science (L&S) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) are commemorating the awarding of degrees on Saturday, May 17, with special pre-commencement receptions.
Photo opportunities and refreshments will be offered to students, parents, and College of Letters and Science faculty and staff. The event will also include a short welcome from Phillip R. Certain, dean of the College of Letters and Science, and Paula Bonner, president and CEO of WAA.
The college is UW–Madison’s largest academic unit and constitutes approximately one-half of the university. L&S graduates from the majors African Languages and Literature through History of Science should attend the first reception at 8:30 a.m. L&S graduates from the majors Industrial Relations through Zoology should attend the second reception at 12:30 p.m. Both receptions will take place in the Nicholas Johnson Pavilion at the Kohl Center.
“The Wisconsin Alumni Association and the College of Letters and Science are pleased to host this celebration,” says Bonner. “In addition to creating a festive atmosphere before the commencement ceremonies, it provides an opportunity for faculty to personally wish their students well and for us to welcome them into the Wisconsin Alumni Association family.”
Students and parents wishing to attend the reception may register online at http://www.uwalumni.com/lscommencement/ through Friday, May 9. For more information on the receptions, call Beth Hartzheim in L&S, (608) 265-0457. Direct questions about the commencement ceremony to (608) 262-9076.
