UW Homecoming parade, pep rally support ‘Bucky for President’
Bucky is running for president during Homecoming 2004, and the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) and the UW Homecoming Committee are sponsoring a parade in his honor. Badgers of all ages are invited to show their support at community events during Homecoming week on campus.
UW Tobacco Center receives $8.5 million federal grant
The National Institutes of Health has announced that the Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention, a program of the Medical School, has been awarded a five-year grant for $8.5 million for research on tobacco dependence and its treatment. The research, to be conducted in Madison and Milwaukee, will study the long-term consequences of smoking.

Rhode Island College names building for Kauffman
Joseph Kauffman, professor emeritus of educational administration and leader of the Kauffman Administrative Development Program at UW–Madison, was recently honored by Rhode Island College, in Providence, RI. The college dedicated a building in honor of Kauffman, who served as its fourth president from 1968-73.
