Our plans for May commencement
I am writing to tell you that we have made the very difficult decision to postpone our spring commencement ceremonies at Camp Randall and the Kohl Center, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I have also recorded a video message to the members of the Class of 2020.
Important move-out updates for residents
We urge you to sign up as soon as possible to remove your belongings if you are able to do so. In consultation with our campus health officials, we will be expanding our options for move-out this weekend. Additionally, based on their guidance, we are no longer limiting move-out for students who are coming from states designated as having community transmission.

UW Health March 19 Daily Update: Caring for Cancer Patients
The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center continues to care for cancer patients by using telehealth technology, expanding screening, and extending in-home care options to address the unique challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Campus Research Activities Update
To reduce the threat of COVID-19, a set of campus-wide directives have been established for researchers. On-site research activities must be approved by a dean or director. Research that can be conducted remotely may continue.
Updates on moving out of residence halls
For students who will now be permanently moving-out of the residence halls, we have developed a move-out schedule spanning the next few weeks. This process is designed to help students and families maintain social distancing, to reduce potential traffic and parking concerns to and from campus, and to ensure efficiency.
Libraries closed
All campus libraries are closed from 6pm March 18, 2020 until further notice. Laptops and requested materials will be provided for pickup between 12pm-4pm at the Memorial Library entrance (M-F).
Updates to Housing Operations
To mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 virus at UW–Madison, students in University Residence Halls are being asked to take essential belongings, academic materials, laptops, and medications with them for Spring Break and not return to residence halls following Spring Break.
