Kaine to hold Tuesday campus event
Updated 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31: Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine will hold an event on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Gordon Dining & Events Center, 770 W. Dayton Street.
The event, sponsored by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, will focus on early voting and is open to the public. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP through the campaign.
Doors will open at 3:15 p.m. and attendees should expect airport-style security screening. Signs and water bottles are prohibited and attendees are asked to bring as little as possible to facilitate efficient security screening.
Gordon will remain open for food service and previously scheduled events in the facility will go on as planned. Due to the security and logistics related to the event, second floor seating areas will be closed until the conclusion of the event.
Related to the event, Lake Street will be closed to traffic between Dayton Street and Johnson Street beginning to both traffic and pedestrians for portions of the afternoon. Restrictions will end following the event.
Per UW policy, political candidates and parties may rent university facilities to hold one on campus political event each election.
